DAY 01
Pick up your rental car (included) and proceed to the Horseshoe Bay Ferry
Terminal (not included) for your 90-minute journey across Georgia Strait
to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Once at Nanaimo it is a short 2.5 hour drive
north to Campbell River, Salmon Capital of the World. Once you have checked into
your room at Painter's Lodge it's time to set in motion your plan of attack for
the salmon. Your package includes two four-hour guided trips. The trips are
predetermined according to the tides, and are divided into morning (6:00am), mid
day (11:00am) and evening (4:00pm) tides. One morning tide is allowed so you can
save that for tomorrow or the next day, but if you are truly eager, an evening
trip is certainly and option.Overnight at Painter's Lodge.

DAY 02
As well as being know as the Salmon Capital of the World, Campbell River and
Painter's Lodge are world famous for Tyee, coastal Indian language and means
'The Chief' or 'Great Leader.' The term is used to describe Chinook or Spring
salmon that weigh 30 lbs. or more. Painter's Lodge offers traditional tyee
fishing from classic rowboats in the Tyee Pools. Anglers who catch a Tyee become
members of the Tyee Club of British Columbia. It is open to any anglers who want
to test their skill at sport fishing. The rower will slip the boat into the
currents and eddies of the pool, allowing the angler to stay focused on the
action of the lure. Any change in the beat of the rod tip will signify a strike.
It is then up to the angler to set the hook and battle the powerful Chinook to
the boat - single-handedly. If the fish is successfully boated and weighs over
30 lbs., the catch is recorded and the angler has earned a membership in the
Tyee Club. Of course there are some other rules involved and the season varies,
so if you decide you would like to become a member, check with the concierge or
your fishing guide, and they will give you the details and pricing. Overnight at
Painter's Lodge.

DAY 03
If you still haven't had your fill of fishing, you can always see if a guide and
boat are available for another tide. It's time to pack up your catch, if you
were lucky, and return to Vancouver. On your return to Vancouver you may wish to
stop at Coombs Country Market, fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, arts &
crafts, all at a one of a kind market with sod roof, where you can see goats
grazing!!!! Board B.C. Ferries (not included) at Nanaimo for the
90-minute journey back to Horseshoe Bay and then the short drive to Vancouver
and return of your car at the Airport or downtown.
