DAY 01
Arrive in Halifax and spend your day exploring this seaside city. Experience
maritime tradition and charm, enchanting centuries-old streets, historic parks
and ocean vistas at every turn. Overnight in Halifax.

DAY 02
Board VIA Rail's new Bras d'Or rail service to Sydney, on picturesque Cape
Breton Island. The rail journey itself is a treat as you travel in the company
of storytellers, musicians, and kilt-clad guides. Experience scenery from the
perspective unique to rail travel as you wind through beautiful rolling hills
and quaint communities. A cold breakfast and lunch are included today and will
be served to you at your seat. For your convenience, a taxi transfer is included
from the train station to your selected hotel. Overnight in Sydney.

DAY 03
Collect your rental car this morning and travel to the Fortress of Louisburg
National Historic Site (included). Meticulously rebuilt on the
foundations of the original fort and garrison town, this is the site from which
the French controlled their trade with the New World in the 1700's. Next, travel
to the Marconi National Historic Site, then return to Sydney. Overnight in
Sydney.

DAY 04
The Cabot Trail, one of the most beautiful drives in North America is on the
agenda today. The Trail circles northern Cape Breton Island where the highlands
rise from the coast. Visit Cape Breton Highlands National Park
(included), one of Canada's most exceptional wilderness areas. Overnight
in Ingonish.

DAY 05
Continue along the Cabot Trail to the village of Baddeck, located on the shores
of the sparkling Bras d'Or Lakes and the former home of Sir Alexander Graham
Bell. Visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site (included),
with more than 20,000 square feet of fascinating exhibits. Overnight in Baddeck.

DAY 06
Travel along the scenic Bras d'Or Lakes Drive to the Canso Causeway connection
to Nova Scotia. From there, continue along Marine Drive, the eastern shore of
this province where you can see unspoiled beaches, tidal inlets, and salt
marshes that teem with birds and wildlife. Overnight in Halifax.

DAY 07
A day at complete leisure to visit Halifax Citadel National Historic Site and
York Redoubt National Historic Site (both included), and perhaps to take
a short drive along the Lighthouse Route to Peggy's Cove. This fishing village
is famous for its picturesque profile, with houses perched along a narrow inlet
and a lighthouse that dominates the scene. Overnight in Halifax.

DAY 08
Your tour may conclude today as you check out of your hotel and return your
rental car; but the memories created will linger forever.
